WhiteStar's Enhanced Culture Database is a seamless, high-resolution database of county and city boundaries, roads, railroads, hydrology, airports, power lines, etc. that is ideal for quick-look and final production base maps.
Data Source
WhiteStar's Enhanced Culture Database is compiled from the latest Census Bureau TIGER files (currently 2006 2nd. Ed.), USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle maps, and Geodetic Survey data (GPS benchmarks). The database is largely at 1:100,000 scale, but 1:24,000 is available in certain areas. |

Enhancement
Using ESRI GIS technology, WhiteStar has added map-friendly symbols and feature labels, with logical placement to eliminate label over-posting. Notably, roads, railroads, and streams are labeled along their routes and roads are symbolized with centerline and widths corresponding to size class. The data are cleanly clipped to county boundaries. |

Content
Data layers include county boundary, city boundaries, roads, railroads, streams, lakes, miscellaneous transportation (powerlines, airports, etc.), USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle boundaries, and GNIS annotation. Tabular attributes include feature labels and road size classification.
