Geo Geoff relaxed back into his favorite easy chair in his study. "Feels good to be back in Denver." he said approvingly to his faithful dog Scout, giving him a good strong couple of pats on the back. The dalmation agreed and curled up at his feet in front of the fire. It had been a long few months on the road, but he savored his role as The WhiteStar Corporation's Serious Explorer.

He gazed into the now roaring fire and thought how far he'd come. Not just in miles traveled, but in his mind expanded. As he glanced around his office whose corners were crammed with rolled up maps, transits and books piled high, he reflected on his early years as a Landman traveling around Oklahoma and Texas. He cast his mind back to his boyhood days with his dad, when he would stand on tiptoes trying to steal a glance at a map spread out on the hood of the old man's Buick, while the elder explorer held court with his oil men cronies. "Those were the days," he thought fondly. His father had taught him everything he knew about exploration and oh, if he could see him now....
