Happy New Year to you from WhiteStar! ‘Tis the season of resolutions and predictions on everything from awards season to trends for the upcoming year, and in that spirit, we’ve got a few predictions ourselves for 2013.
Utica might be the new Marcellus.
Red is the new black. Depp is the new Brando. One Direction is the new Beatles. (OK, that one is really a stretch). But the Utica play is one worth keeping an eye on. Though still in its infancy, it sure looks like it’s heating up, with recent rig activity comparable to Marcellus. Are you looking to get in the action? We’re building out the Ohio lot and tract data you’ll need when it comes time to start making decisions on leases. Ohio is an unusual state when it comes to the age and complexity of these surveys – this will be an invaluable addition if you’re exploring or producing in this play.
WhiteStar Lots and Tracts will grow by leaps and bounds.
And speaking of WhiteStar Lots and Tracts, it will be seeing expanded coverage this year – not so much a prediction as a statement of fact! We’re completing Kansas now, and Oklahoma will be next. This dataset is the most customer-driven of our products, and states are given priority for completion based on customer subscriptions. You can learn more about this one-of-a-kind dataset on our website, here. No one else provides this level of detail and accuracy!
Migrating land grid will be easier than you think.
We are confidently predicting that this year, more and more people will realize that making the change to WhiteStar Grid, and migrating their lease mapping over, is not nearly the onerous task it might seem to be. In fact, guest speaker Jerry Bramwell of LandWorks will be talking about just that next week at our Houston User Group meeting. Between the evolution of available software tools and the ever-increasing accuracy of WhiteStar grid, it’s a LOT easier than you might think.
So bring on 2013! We’re looking forward to a fantastic year, and to bringing you ever-more comprehensive and accurate data coverage.
